It is with sadness we announce the passing of David Taylor on April 30, 2011 in Thunder Bay at the age of 84. David is survived by his children Theresa (Joseph), Melvin, Brian (Joyce), Donald (Gary), Darlene and Rene (Irene). He is also survived by his brother Sinclair and sisters Eva and Anna and grandchildren Betsy, Vivian, Jessica, Melvina, Mark, Real, Roseanna, Tyrone, Larry, Jaime-Lynn and Victor and also great grandchildren Tyler, Taylr, Betresa, Adeline, Allen, Dustin Creanne, Jacob, Ezra, Lillianna, Laryn, Kearra, Madeline, Gavin, Regan, Aiden, Mya, and William and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Allen and Adeline, wife Lucy, child Safira grandchild Shannon and siblings Eva, Albert, Mariah, Donald and Martha. David's grandparents are from Moose Factory, his parents are from Nagagamisis Lake. David was born and raised in Morrison River where they had lived off of the land. Later he moved to Hornepayne where he went to school to learn strong math skills in order to calculate hours for his paycheque and also learned to sign his name. David then married Lucy and started his family. David was employed at the Haavaldsrud Timber Company for over 30 years and retired, twice. David was an avid hunter and enjoyed trapping and fishing with his children and grandchildren. In 1994 David moved to Thunder Bay to enjoy retirement. David was a very religious man who loved spending time at family gatherings. He really enjoyed cheering for the great grandchildren playing hockey and baseball especially during playoff time. Visitation will be on Wednesday May 4th 6-8 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue, to follow with a Church Service at Kekenawatay Negan, 607 Prince Arthur Blvd., from 8-11 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday May 5th 2:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. Interment will take place on Friday, May 6th at 3:00 p.m. where he will be laid to rest with his wife Lucy. We would like to thank the family and friends who have supported us during this time and also special thanks to the staff of the Renal Unit at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre along with the staff at Interim Care.
