Thomson, John

John (Jack) Thomson passed away peacefully on January 31st, 2009. John was born in Gananoque Ontario. He stayed there until high school graduation. Shortly after, he went out west to work the oil fields. In 1980 he came to Thunder Bay which became his home for more than 25 years. Recently he moved back to Gananoque with his father. John worked as a taxi driver for 12 years. In 1989 he met Cindy who he married in 1991. In 2001, John was forced to stop working as he battled with heart disease. Even after multiple heart attacks, John was strong and refused to let his health get the best of him. John showed passion and dedication in everything he did, whether it was work, family or leisure. John was an avid sports fan. He spent his younger years playing football and hockey. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports.John was a true family man. He always watched over his family, immediate and extended. John was known to go without just so that others wouldn‘t have to.John had a strong spirit and loved life. He awoke every morning with a smile and a whistle. John loved animals, most recently his dog 'Buddy‘ who he adopted last spring. John touched everyone he met with either his infectious humor or his love and generosity. John is survived by his father, David 'Myles‘ Thomson, former wife and life long friend, Cindy Thomson, aunts Sharon Carmichael and June McKey, uncle Grant Thomson, mother-in-law, Doreen Carli, sister-in-law, Lori Cvercko, nephew, Brandan, niece, Madison and many cousins and friends. John is predeceased by his mother, Barbara Ann Thomson, brother, Charles 'Shane‘ Thomson, stepmom Eunice Marrs. As per John's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. John will live in our hearts forever.
