In Loving Memory of Anna (Ruparcic) Urbanic, March 24, 1915 - May 9, 2008, 93 years of age, who passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on a beautiful sunny morning. Born in Slovenia, Anna moved to Canada in 1937 and married Louis Ruparcic in Sudbury Ontario where they raised their three children Nellie, Sophia and Tony. Louis passed away in 1967.Anna married Vincent Urbanic in 1970 and moved to St Catharines Ontario. Vincent predeceased her in 1979. Anna moved to Thunder Bay in 2002 to reside with her daughter Nellie and son-in-law Ernie. She was predeceased by her son Tony and daughter Sophia. Also, predeceased by sister Francis of Sandy, Utah, brother Frank of Thunder Bay, one brother in France, four brothers and one sister in Slovenia. She is survived by her daughter Nellie (Ernie) Marcotte, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Anna will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends who are located in several towns and cities across Canada and Utah. Anna was a unique individual with diverse interests and hobbies. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and great grandma, she enjoyed cooking and gardening. Later in life, she became keenly interested in creating beautiful afghan blankets. Anna maintained a sharp mind and kept herself updated on world events and politics. She will be remembered for her strong interest in watching televised sports, particularly wrestling and figure skating, also, her forty minute daily walks and morning exercise sessions. A family prayer service was held at the hospital. The family wish to thank Father Lino Santi of St Anthony's Parish and Reverend Merv Wilson of the hospital's Spiritual Care. The family also wishes to thank the many friends and relatives who sent flowers, food, sympathy cards and gave words of condolence. Cremation took place, Friday, May 16th at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sudbury, Ontario with ashes being interred with first husband Louis Ruparcic.
