Mrs. Yvonne Emma Vondrasek, age 83 years, resident of 1100 Lincoln Street, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Hospital (McKellar) on Friday, April 20, 2001 with her family by her side.Yvonne was born in Fort William, and was a lifelong resident. In her early years, Yvonne was employed by the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital, followed by twenty-seven years as a Registered Practical Nurse with St. Joseph'sHospital, retiring in 1982. Her home and family were Yvonne's main interests, and she especially enjoyed bowling, bingo, and occasional trips to Grand Portage.Yvonne is survived by her two daughters: Deanna (Gordon) Smith of Kenora and Judy (Garry) Kozak of Thunder Bay; her three sons: Jerry (Shirley) of Lloydminster, AB, George (Mary) and Tom (Gayle) - both of Thunder Bay; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister Muriel Allan; sister-in-law Marge Meloche; daughter-in-law Louise Vondrasek - all of Thunder Bay. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.Yvonne was predeceased by her parents; husband Jerry (in 1992); son James (in 1995); three brothers: Phoenix, Leo and Wilfred Meloche; two sisters: Audrey Knudsen and Bernice Geeson.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, officiated by Rev. P.M. Stilla of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Sunset Memorial Gardens.Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. , at Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street.If friends so desire, donations may be made in Yvonne's memory to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
