Youmans, Daniel
1930 - 2004Daniel Evert Youmans, age 74 years, died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 14th, 2004 with his family by his side. Dan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wilma, his daughters Virginia Hurdon of Ottawa, Maureen (Wayne) Sitch of Thunder Bay and grandchildren Victoria, Michael, Elizabeth, Amanda, Rachel, Douglas and Kyle, and newly arrived great grandchildren Christina and Michael. He is also survived by brother Bill (Helene) of Eagle River and sisters Lil Christie of Edmonton and Jenafor (Jonn) Atley of Edmonton, and sister-in-law Phyllis Youmans of Elliott Lake, and many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his son Michael, parents Daniel and Ann Youmans, parents in-law Wid and Elsie Wambolt, sister Yvonne Corriveau and brother Art Youmans. Dan worked for many years at Fort William and Thunder Bay Hydro prior to becoming a tourist operator at Arrow Lake owning and operating Youmans Lodge, formerly Remick's Lodge. He was a member of Elks Lodge 82 for many years. Dan spent the majority of his life in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing golf, in search of the big buck or the perfect putt. Winter months were devoted to bowling and curling. He was a man of many talents and was always there to help friends and family. As per his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dan's life will be held for family and friends at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 19th, 2004 at the Georgian Room of St. Joseph's Heritage.
