Jesse Lee Zobatar passed away on May 1, 2011.

Jesse was born on June 6, 1976 and raised in the Thunder Bay area, attending McKenzie Public School and Hillcrest High School. During this time, basketball and skiing were his passion, and many of his lifelong friends were made during this time. After high school, he attended the Fish and Wildlife College in Sault Ste. Marie, which led him to a profound love of the natural world, especially, the Nipigon area.

Inevitably, he began working for the Ministry of Natural Resources in different capacities, participating on several studies on the Nipigon watershed. His devout passion for fishing and his work with the Ministry were a match made in heaven, making him a better fisherman, and conservationist.

He also achieved his Red Seal Certification in welding, of which he was extremely proud. Jesse also had a love for music, and expressed himself among his close friends with his guitar. Jesse was blessed with so many friends, old and new, who appreciated his gentle, peaceful, affectionate nature….and of course, his mischievous sense of humor.

He was doubly blessed to have two complete families who love him dearly. Jesse will be sadly missed by parents, Joanne and Brent Zobatar, and John Belanger and Gertrud Boeckermann; sisters: Bailey Zobatar (Ian), Leah Boeckermann-Belanger (Paul), and Kristina Boeckermann-Belanger; nephew Dylon Zobatar; grandparents Joyce and Mel Zobatar, Margaret and Maurice Fydirchuk, Teresa and Gerald Girard; aunts and uncles Krista and Carl Tallon, Tracey and Bob Slater, Greg and Anna Marie Zobatar, Caroline Anderson, Alan Suzanne Fydirchuk, Susan Carrier, auntie cousin Linda, Bill and Wendy Belanger, Suanne and George Smith, Michelle and Stan Brodie. Cousins and their families: Rob, Christopher, Jodi, Stephen, Ashley, Siobhan, Lauren, and Carlie (Zobatar) Jason, Taylor, Nicholas, and Cody (Fydirchuk) Adam, Ashley, Kyle, Kelly and Jaime (Belanger). He was predeceased by grandfather Wilf Belanger, uncle Terry Belanger, uncle Rob Zobatar, aunt Anne Fydirchuk, great grandparents Pauline and Sam Fydirchuk.

Following cremation, Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Hugh Walker. Services conclude in the chapel with a reception to follow. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Jesse’s memory to the David Suzuki Foundation.
