THUMBS Up to good PR and “The Amazing Race Canada television program for the excellent coverage and photography of our city’s natural beauty. We can be proud.”
‘I WAS eating at Chinese Express on Arthur Street recently and saw five youths come in to eat. I assumed their parents were going to be right behind them but no, they sat at the table and showed better manners than most adults I've seen. It was amazing seeing these young men interact with each other and how they showed respect for everyone around them. Their parents must be very proud and these youth will be great leaders one day in our community. Thumbs up to them, to the parents raising them, and to the amazing servers looking after them. It was a very positive experience and the future is bright with these young men.”
THUMBS Up to the food and entertainment at Festa Italiana and Ribfest. However, “Thumbs Down to no recycling at these events. Huge bags of ‘garbage’ were hauled away filled with plastic, glass and paper. A sad example for the future of our children and the environment.”
THUMBS Up to the amazing staff in the maternity ward at the hospital. “During a recent pregnancy scare that sent me to the hospital for a week they went above and beyond to make my stay and slow recovery that much better.”
THUMBS Down to the people in government who were “more concerned about making the hospital a showplace than the number of beds it held. Now we have ER patients lying in crowded hallways being asked to ‘take a swab of your bum.’ Appalling!”
THUMBS Up to the radiology department at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre “from the girls at reception to ‘Pat,’ the kind and gentle technician doing my mammogram. Your level of patience and professionalism was beyond words. I am truly at a loss for words to express how impressed I am with all of you. Hats off for a job well done.”
