Galaxy Lanes bowls over defending champions

Champagne flows as members of the Galaxy Lanes Athletics celebrate winning the Thunder Bay senior men’s baseball championship on Tuesday night at Baseball Central. The A’s captured their first league crown since 2006 by defeating the defending champion 2-0 to the capture the best-of-seven series in six games. Jon Brattengeier pitched a complete-game, seven-inning shutout, allowing just four hits and allowing one walk and registering three strikeouts. Brattengeier’s counterpart, Adam Josefchak, also pitched the full seven innings with no earned runs. The A’s struck for single runs in the top of the fourth and seventh innings. Kevin Connolly went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and Jeremy Puhalski added two hits and a run scored. Brandon Smith was 2-for-2 for the Dodgers, who had been down 3-0 in the series before winning games 4 and 5.
