About $2 million in total is to be invested to lengthen Premier Way and Innovation Drive by a combined total of just over 500 metres. Appropriate storm sewer and water services will be included in the extensions. The city is covering half of the cost, with the province contributing $1 million. Tenders are expected to go out soon. “This investment will further diversify Thunder Bay‘s economy by making (the park) more attractive to commercial developments,” Thunder Bay Mayor Lynn Peterson said in a news release. The project, to create about 20 construction jobs next year, is expected to set the stage for large retail stores to locate on the city‘s west side. Innova, at 53 hectares, is about six kilometres from the airport and five from the city‘s railway station and port. The provincial funding comes from Ontario‘s Infrastructure and Community Development Program. Top of Page |
