A third member of a Winnipeg family involved in a fiery crash near Kenora last week has died.

Provincial police said that Jewan Kim, 17, died of his injuries in a Thunder Bay hospital on Wednesday.

Kim‘s 46-year-old mother Chae Hyeon and 19-year-old brother Jeseon died July 22 when the family‘s van crashed into a rock cut and caught fire on Highway 17A northeast of Kenora.

A funeral service is being held for all three at Chapel Lawn Memorial Garden at 4000 Portage Ave. on Saturday at 10 a.m..

The lone survivor, Hyeon‘s husband Soo Hyun Kim, 47, is listed in fair condition in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Provincial police have confirmed the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.

There was no evidence, however, to suggest the two passengers in the rear were wearing their seatbelts, police said, adding that it was also inconclusive if the passenger in the front was wearing a seatbelt or not.
