EDMONTON - Edmonton’s medical examiner has identified the innocent driver of a pickup truck that was hit head-on by a stolen minivan last week as Bradley Kenneth Kerfoot, 30, of Leduc, Alta. RCMP say they don’t have a positive identification yet on the 21-year-old driver of the stolen vehicle. Both men were killed instantly in the fiery crash on the Yellowhead Highway near Hinton, Alta. Several motorists reported they narrowly missed being hit by the speeding, swerving minivan as it drove down the wrong way of the divided highway. Mounties were chasing the van when the crash happened. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the conduct of RCMP officers while questions about whether procedures on handling chases were properly followed will be looked at by an internal RCMP probe. ASIRT spokesman Clifton Purvis has said police were made aware of the minivan well to the west of Hinton when an off-duty RCMP officer reported seeing it being driven erratically. The review could take months as investigators wait for results of tests to determine whether drugs or alcohol may have been factors. A Facebook page in tribute of Kerfoot said he had been on his way to work on the day of the crash. "Brad was coming over the hill and had no chance," said the page, which called Kerfoot "a kind, giving, gentle and very goofy personality." His funeral will be held in his hometown of Saskatoon on Saturday. Top of Page |
