A wind farm is proposed for the Nor‘Wester range south of Thunder Bay. What‘s your view on the proposal:
In favour — green energy is the way to go
No way, not in our backyard
Well, it might spur much needed economic development
Don't know — I hear many conflicting claims

GUELPH, Ont. - Simon Whitfield has decided to compete in next week’s Canadian Cross Country Championships.

The 34-year-old double Olympic medallist doesn’t expect to be a factor in the Nov. 28 race, but is looking forward to taking part in the event.

"I don’t get to race cross country enough and when I do I always remember just how much fun it is," Whitfield said Thursday in a release. "I have realistic expectations racing nationals, especially with where it fits into the season. I’d be flattered if people thought I could compete with (Simon) Bairu and company but the Regina speed demon is simply too fast for this old triathlete."

Bairu, a five-time national cross-country champion, headlines the men’s field for the event. Hamilton’s Reid Coolsaet, Eric Gillis of Antigonish, N.S., Taylor Milne of Callander, Ont., Cleve Thorson of Port Elgin, Ont., and Dylan Wykes of Kingston, Ont., will also compete at the University of Guelph Arboretum.

On the women’s side, Edmonton natives Chantell Widney and Megan Metcalfe headline the field.
