Ships remain on way as season nears end

The Samuel Risley Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker works beyond the breakwall to Thunder Bay harbour on Thursday. The icebreaker is expected to keep the harbour open for vessel traffic until about Jan. 14 when the shipping season ends. Seven ships are still coming into port to load and there will be five ships that will winter in Thunder Bay. Lake ice is thin, which could change as temperatures stay low. The public is warned to stay off harbour and river ice.
