The Northwest Film Fest is following the lead of other festivals around the country, including the Thunder Bay Blues Festival, with this year’s slate of films highlighting women.
“We have unofficially christened it as the Year of the Woman because many of the films, virtually half of our films, have a significant female presence either behind or in front of the camera or through thematic content,” said Marty Mascarin, president of the North of Superior Film Association.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the film festival and this year’s lineup includes 27 films from all over the world including The Disaster Artist, Loving Vincent and The Leisure Seeker, which stars Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren.
