More people drawn to Festa Italiana this year

Italian Society of Port Arthur members were busy early last month handing out Italian food at Festa Italiana in the parking lot of the Italian Cultural Centre. Normally a larger festival with numerous food vendors and live entertainment, the weekend’s festivities were limited to takeout food because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s two-day event drew about 5,000 people. But Festa organizers this year expected to nearly double that number. Thousands of pounds of meatballs and gnocchi were sold, along with several-dozens of pans of lasagna.
