Ribfest nearing

Members of the organizing committee, the Waterfront District Business Improvement Area and Our Kids Count were on hand at the Gateway Casino parking lot on Wednesday to announce details of this year’s Ribfest, set for Aug. 24, 25 and 26. From left, Jamie Harris, of Sysko Food Services; BIA board chairman Jim Comuzzi with his grandson Kai Fairbairn; Pam Peterson, of Artisan Alley; vendor Darlene Green; Karen Marconi, from Gateway Casino; Gladys Berringer, Our Kids Count executive director and Ribfest chairwoman; Patrick Trevisanutto, from Half-Way Motors; Dave Jones, from Autohome and Red River Rumble organizer Keith Taylor.

Another finger-licking, dance-kicking, muscle-pumping, engine-revving Ribfest is set to draw thousands to Thunder Bay’s Waterfront Business District from Aug. 24 to 26.

The mouth-watering ribs are the big draw for the event, which drew 20,000 people last year. Other features include the Red River Rumble Car and Motorcycle Show on Sunday, Aug. 26. Kevin Mack from History TV’s reality show, Counting Cars will greet fans on both Saturday and Sunday.
