THUMBS Up to the security staff at Thunder Bay Airport. “On Sunday. there was a long wait at security due to Special Olympics visitors going home. I mentioned my age and inability to stand for an hour to a security officer and was taken, with kindness, to the head of the line and put through. I am very very grateful.”

THUMBS Up to last month’s super production of Sister Act by the Badanai Theatre. “I saw it twice with different people. The cast was terrific. I never laughed so hard for a long time. Thank you. If you missed it, you missed a great show.”

THUMBS Down to pruning gone too far. “I’m very disappointed to see the tree on my boulevard aggressively cut. I myself purchased this tree from a friend (who later died), so it has become a memorial tree for me in which I have made a scripted plate with her name on it. I was told it had to be hacked because of upcoming construction in my street. I take care of this tree, and trim it, and water it. There are way more trees in serious need of trimming. I have cried many time since this happened.”

THUMBS Up to the Thunder Bay Public Library. “We have such great digital resources including cloudLibrary and RBdigital. The selection of digital eBooks, audiobooks and eMagazines is awesome. Thank you to the great staff at TBPL, who are friendly and helpful, always willing to lend a hand and share a smile.”

A HUGE Thumbs Up to Mike, Ryan and Travis at an Intercity-area automotive repair shop. “You guys made a difficult day so much more easier.”

THUMBS Up for help on Tuesday morning at the corner of Pearl and Secord. “I had a very nasty fall when my feet found the ice. I want to thank the gentleman that stopped that morning to make sure that I was all right. I thank you so much for your kindness and your concern. I really wanted you to know how much I appreciate you.

THUMBS Up to our first responders. “What a horrendous weekend they had for the beginning of March. Two bodies on Saturday, a major fire on Sunday that lasted two days, and a homicide and assault on Monday into Tuesday involving children for heaven sakes. Just want to let you know, I appreciate the work you all do to keep our city safe. If you happen to see any of them at the coffee shop, buy them a coffee let them know how much they are appreciated.”
