Vikings drop the defence

Julia Gerry led the Vikings with 18 points as Hammarskjold defeated the Falcons 30-18. The Vikings led for most of the game, but held a 20-18 edge after three quarters en route to the program’s third consecutive championship. They proceeded to blank the Falcons for the entire fourth quarter. Moira Menard led St. Ignatius with nine points off three three-pointers. The Falcons athletic department did not go empty handed on Thursday as St. Ignatius’ junior boys volleyball team capture the city title by edging Hammarskjold, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-12. Today, the Westgate Tigers senior boys volleyball team hosts the Kenora-based Beaver Brae Broncos in the best-of-three regional final. Game 1 is 2 p.m., followed by Game 2 at 7 p.m.
