Strong end to season

Thunder Bay’s Nik McKenzie grabs a hold of his opponent at the Ontario youth wrestling championships in Ottawa over the weekend. McKenzia and his fellow Lakehead Wrestling Club members finished their season over the weekend by travelling to Ottawa for the provincials while others ventured to Forest Lake, Minn., for a high school freestyle and Greco Roman meets. Top finishers were Koen Hurlbert and Jackson McKenzie, who both earned Ontario championship gold medals. Also at the provincials, Merric BeauParlant earned bronze, Nik McKenzie was fourth in his class and Ben Burrell was fifth. At Forest Lake, Ella Pilot earned silver medals in freestyle and Greco. Other finishers were: Liam Asselstine (third Greco, fourth freestyle), Myla Lawson (third Greco, second freestyle), Charlie Gordon (fourth, freestyle) and Josh Strickland (bronze in Greco and freestyle).
